Darcy Gerard Visneskie
September 3, 1955 – January 27, 2025
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Darcy Gerard Visneskie after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind his beloved wife Phyllis of 46years, and his cherished children: Gerard (Sophie), Jenny (Kris), and Eric (Kelly). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Alyssa, Malcolm, Jayde, Eliott, Scarlett, Nora, and Klo. Darcy is survived by his brothers Ronnie, Allan, and Mark, as well as his sisters Judy Herron, Alice (Brian) Kummer, Dolores Visneskie, and Sandra (Brian) Norlock. Brother-in-law Richard Voldock and wife Joanne, sister-in-law Peggy. He was predeceased by his sisters Jackie Peplinskie and Debbie Vincente, and his brother Garry.
From 1977 to 1995, Darcy was employed full time at Hokum’s Mill. Being a man of many talents, Darcy then set out on his own, dedicating his time and skills to helping the community with electrical, plumbing, carpentry work and countless other odd jobs. His kindness, hard work, and willingness to lend a hand will be greatly missed by family, friends, and all who knew him. Darcy had a deep love for nature and music, finding joy in fishing, hunting, playing the guitar and singing, gardening, and feeding the wild animals and birds. He will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor and infectious laugh. He loved to share his many stories of hunting and fishing with others and they most often had a comical twist. Countless stories were born from the moments shared with his best friend Carl Bloedow. One of Darcy’s greatest joys was spending time with his beloved grandchildren whom he was immensely proud of. Darcy had a deep faith in God and attended church whenever possible. He especially had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother. Darcy’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family, faith and community will never be forgotten.
Professional arrangements have been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Killaloe and cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Killaloe on Thursday February 20 at 11am. Following the service, a light lunch will be provided downstairs, offering an opportunity to share memories, condolences, and stories amongst family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Madawaska Valley Hospice or to Whiskers and Alley Cat Rescue in memory of Darcy.
