With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Daniel Raymond Kemp, a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Dan left this world peacefully—and far too soon—on January 30, 2025, at the age of 72.
Dan was the beloved husband of Anne, the brother of Ted, and a proud father of Donna (Tim), Aaron (Darcey), and Shawn (Devin) Kemp. He was a devoted “Gang Gang” to Jackson, Ashlyn and Cierra Kemp, and Ray and J.J. Wise. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Barbara Kemp, and his brother, Terry.
A self-proclaimed “Township man,” Dan made Burgessville home in 1983, quickly becoming a familiar face in the community. Whether sipping coffee and chatting at Tim Hortons, watching the Norwich Merchants on Friday nights, or catching up with friends around town, he had a natural gift for conversation and a genuine interest in people. He was always ready to share a laugh and a story.
Hockey was one of Dan’s greatest passions. He spent many years coaching minor hockey, loyally cheering on the Merchants, and watching his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. Despite decades of heartbreak, his devotion to the Leafs never wavered, and he relished every opportunity to debate their Stanley Cup prospects—even with complete strangers who just happened to be wearing Leafs gear.
Dan was a former president of Noblewood Transport and the third generation in a proud family tradition in the dairy industry. He was also a past member of St. John’s Lodge # 104 and the Mocha Shriners. Above all, Dan was endlessly proud of his children and grandchildren, sharing their accomplishments with anyone who would listen. His love for his family was immeasurable, and his pride never faltered.
Dan lived with warmth, humour, and an open heart. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Family and friends will be received at the Arn-Lockie Funeral Home, 45 Main Street West, Norwich, ON 519-863-3020, on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 6:00 -8:00 PM and Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 10:00-10:45 AM. Memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Cremation will have taken place, with a private family spring interment. Donations in memory of Dan, may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
