It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Daniel Allen Hierlihy on April 25, 2025. Danny fought a courageous battle with cancer. He was the eldest of three children born to Glen and Julia Hierlihy. He was a loving brother to Colleen (John) and Jim (Sherri). Danny leaves to survive him his 1st wife and friend Linda and his son Allen (Denise), and their children Sommer (Kody) and Dylan, and his daughter Ann (Gary). Danny was best friend and partner to Pat and her children Sandra (Steve) and their children Evie and Alex, and her son Joe. Danny was so proud of all of our children, but there will never be a Grampy prouder of his grandchildren. He was able to watch Sommer walk down the aisle with the love of her life Kody; to witness Dylan come into his own as a talented Sledge Hockey player; and, had the pleasure of watching Evie perform at the Centre in the Square in Kitchener as part of the Grand Philharmonic Children’s Choir, which he described as listening to angels sing. And that leaves our Alex who is just great at being who he is, Alex. Danny leaves behind aunts, uncles and cousins here and down east where our second home and love always was. Danny was a well-known and respected coach at the Lawfield Minor Hockey Association. He was proud to say he had coached and mentored young men for over 39 years and especially proud to be addressed as ‘Coach’ by former players. We retired together as proud members of the Executive. Danny was also a well-known Funeral Director working for the M.A. Clark Funeral Home for over 50 years. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. at M.A. Clark & Sons Funeral Home, 567 Upper Wellington St. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 2 at 11 a.m. at St. John United Church, 195 East 38th St. He will be laid to rest at Lanes Cemetery in Saint Anns. If desired, donations may be made to The War Amps or a charity of your choice.
