Dale MacDonald Obituary
It is with profound sadness and the heaviest of hearts that we the family announce the passing of our beloved Dale Murdock MacDonald. On February 19th 2025 surrounded by his loving family and in the comfort of his own home, our Captain sailed away.
Loving father of Chelsea (Adam) White, Carly (Sam) Anstee and Dawna (Jacob) Sherk. Dear grandfather of Nova, Haven, Rae-Ann, Wrenna, Axel, Mabel, Cailee, Beau and Oak, brother of Diane (Mike) O’Sullivan, Wayne (Helen) MacDonald and Janice (Dave) Phillips.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews all in which he loved dearly. Dale was predeceased by his parents Donald and Isabel MacDonald and his sister-in-law Cathy MacDonald.
Dale was born and raised in Port Colborne, ON although his roots were grounded in Cape Breton, NS. His love for the lake started his career as a sailor at the young age of 18. After many years on the water as a first class engineer and missing his young family, he made a career change. Dales hard work ethic and many years of dedication enabled him to enjoy his much deserved retirement from Ontario Power Generation, at the age of 52. Dale had passion in his heart for spending time with his family and abundance of cherished friends, doing the things that he loved. He was an avid fisherman, golfer, boater, and motorcyclist, just to name a few. It would be hard to find Dale doing anything he loved without his best friend and brother, Wayne (the love brothers). You could always find them at the local “watering holes”. The closeness of the MacDonald Clan (Diane, Wayne, Dale & Janice) kept them all within footsteps of one another, residing within the same block. There is nothing that gave Dale more pride and joy than the relationship he had with the true loves of his life, his Daughters. Through his girls he earned the title “Grampy” and a name that he wore lovingly. We as a family will honour his legacy for generations to come. Like a lighthouse, a beacon of safety, his light will guide us through the depths of the darkest waters and difficult nights to come.
Cremation has taken place. The MacDonald family will receive visitors at the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 in the Davidson Chapel at 11:00 am. Memorial donations to the Sick Kid’s Foundation would be appreciated.
