Obituary For Cristyll Heather Badger
January 30, 1959 – January 26, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cristyll Heather Badger (nee Hopkins), who left this world on Sunday, January 26th, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband and family after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Cristyll Heather Hopkins entered the world on a cold and snowy January 30th, 1959, in Englehart, Ontario, to her loving parents, Grant and Judith Hopkins. Judy fondly recalls Cristyll’s vibrant strawberry blonde hair and the joy that radiated from her as a baby. That cheerful nature stayed with her, bringing happiness throughout her childhood.
Cris will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered for her kind and gentle spirit reflected from her deep faith in Jesus. She had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel cherished, and her warm nature, gentle advice and a tenderness that touched the lives of all who knew her. A devoted mother and grandmother, Cris found immense joy in spending time with her husband Rick of 44 years, her children and grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
Family was at the heart of Cris’s life. She regularly hosted Sunday dinners, bringing everyone together in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Her home was a haven of love, laughter and dancing, where she often organized delightful tea parties, play dough making, crafts and baking afternoons with her grandchildren, fostering a sense of togetherness and joy.
When she wasn’t doting on her grandchildren, Cris could be found curled up in her favourite chair with a cup of hot coffee and a devotion in hand, or in the kitchen, baking and cooking, maybe tending to her bird feeder, or nurturing her beautiful flower and vegetable garden. She poured her time and love into everything she did, and her dedication and sacrifice extended beyond her family to her active involvement in her church and book club.
Cris was a humble soul who preferred to stay behind the scenes, finding immense joy in watching her family interact and thrive. Her legacy is one of faith, love, sacrifice and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her, whether for a brief moment or a lifetime.
She now rests in glory with her Heavenly Father along with her earthly father, Grant. Cristyll is survived by her beloved husband, Richard Badger, and her cherished children: Amy (Steven) Bredeson, Amber (Gavin) Pon, Kelsey (Joshua) Benson, and Braydon (Sarah) Badger. She is also survived by her many grandchildren: Jace, Evangeline, Ava, Sofia, Ruby, Caspian, Ezra, Merrick, Rueben and Fern. Cris also leaves behind her loving mother, Judith Hopkins, and her adored siblings: Teresa (Gord) Hanson, Arlana (Howard) Scott, Tanya Hopkins, and Joseph (Brenda) Hopkins and many loved uncles, aunties, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Cris’s spirit will always shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends. Her love and unwavering faith have touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. We take comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain and that her incredible impact will echo through the generations, reminding us all of the beautiful person she was.
A Celebration of Cris’s life will be held on February 7th, 2025, at 1:00pn at McLaurin Baptist Church with a luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Camp Wapiti, a cause close to Cris’s heart.
