The family of Colleen Elizabeth (Fitzgerald) Reimer is saddened to announce her peaceful passing on Monday September 15th,2025 at the age of 65.
Colleen is survived by her beloved and cherished husband, Keith, sisters, Suzanne (Paul Benteau) Fitzgerald and Elizabeth Fitzgerald; niece Eve (Kevin Ament) Ament; nephews, Nevan Tait, Isaac Tait and Jon Paul Benteau; sister-in-law Bette Reimer of Vancouver, brother-in-law Robert (Marlene) Reimer, niece Katie Reimer and grand-nephew, Felix Dewald, all in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.
Colleen was predeceased by her mother, Rose Marie Fitzgerald and father, James O’Neil Fitzgerald.
A native of Halifax, Colleen grew up with a love for the ocean, for swimming and for whales. She was educated at Halifax West High School, Acadia University, and Dalhousie University, earning a BSc with honours in Geology and an MSc in Geology in 1987. Colleen then moved to Calgary to work for Mobil Oil, where she met and married Keith. In 1998, Colleen was thrilled to be transferred back to Halifax, where Keith and Colleen enjoyed many happy days on Lucknow Street. An avid curler, Colleen served as social chair of the Mayflower Day Ladies in 2012-13 and President of the Mayflower Day Ladies in 2019-20. Keith and Colleen also organized the Mayflower Sunday curling rental league from 2014-20. Retiring early in 2008, Colleen enjoyed many years of gardening and stained-glass projects before she and Keith moved full-time to Second Peninsula. This led to befriending a wonderful group of neighbours and sharing many joyful gatherings. Colleen was founder of the Second Peninsula Garden Club. She and Keith also enjoyed curling with the Lunenburg Curling Club and playing tennis in Mahone Bay.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy 3, Lunenburg and from where a celebration of Colleen’s life will take place on Friday, September 19 at 2:00 pm. A social reception will follow. Interment to take place at a later date in Second Peninsula Cemetery.
