Clarence William Albert Appler
November 14, 1933 — February 19, 2025
Went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 in his 92nd year. Clarence was committed to looking steadily ahead to God’s promise and assuring all of us that “we will meet again”. His testimony was strong and was witnessed by all who watched him boldly and courageously walk hand in hand with his Saviour Jesus Christ into eternity.
Clarence Appler of Pembroke, beloved husband and best friend of Arletta Appler (nee Hass), who were joined as one in marriage for 54 years. Loving father of son Paul Appler (wife Linda) of Windsor, and daughter Elaine Kiehler (husband Clifford) of Houston, Texas. He is Grandfather to Nigel, Sasha (Ashton), Jasper Vandenbrink (Daniel), Justin (Ram) & Taylor (Grace) Appler; and Brittany Janish (Justin) & Courtney Massey (Steven) and he is Great-Grandfather of Pablo, Theo, Walter, Elliott, Walker, and Wendy. Clarence was the son given by the Lord to the late John and Martha Appler (nee Groehl). Survived by his sister Margaret Rivers (the late Sid). Predeceased by his siblings Anna Biesenthal (the late Albert), Ella Lange (the late Felix), Gordon Appler (the late Erva), Elmer Appler (the late Marjorie), and Isabel Baker (the late Carl).
Clarence was born in Pembroke on November 14, 1933. He has lived his entire life in his home-town, other than a few short years when Clarence attended hightschool at Concordia, Edmonton. He had a dedicated career as a steamfitter with Atomic Energy of Canada. Clarence’s life was blessed with many opportunities to serve others, outside of his career. He was actively involved in the 9th Pembroke Cub and Scouts, several church committees at St. John’s Lutheran Church, as well as Pastoral Care volunteer at Marianhill. His love, dedication and adoration for his wife Arletta was evident, they were often seen strolling hand-in-hand. The loss of his best-friend and wife truly broke his heart.
The family would like to thank Pastor Alles for all his visits as he shared the Word of God, the faithfulness of his Saviour Jesus Christ, and His promise of eternity. A very warm and special thank-you to his dear nephew and niece Brian and Wanda Hass who have offered themselves graciously and bridged the gap for family members separated by distance who could not always be there, or until they could be. To the Renfrew County Paramedics and Pembroke Police for their diligent efforts, professionalism and compassion.
Visitation at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Monday, February 24, 2025 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 357 Miller St., Pembroke on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. The service is available virtually through this link. Spring interment in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to St. John’s Lutheran Church, or the Canadian Lung Association would be appreciated.
