It is with heavy hearts that we share the peaceful passing of a gentle giant in our lives – Clarence. He was husband to Beth (Gibson), Dad to Paul (Theresa) and David (Dennis) and Poppa to his grandchildren Justin (Jenn), Elyse (Adam), Lizzie (Phil) and Tor. His great grandchildren Emma, Julia, Evelyn, Amelia, Greta, Margo always brought a smile to his face and twinkle to his eye. He was predeceased by his first wife Helen (Martin), his parents Wellington and Myrtle (Babcock) Snyder, his brother Floyd (May) Snider and sister Gladys Babcock (Harold). He was a treasured uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Clarence lived his life here in the Kingston area. He was employed at Muttart Builders Supplies for 43 years and worked his way up to Manager before entering retirement. During his retirement years, he enjoyed golf, outside work on the lawns at home, helping at the Polson Park Free Methodist Church in projects on his own and supporting Beth in her role in the office.
He has been a member of the Rotary Club of Kingston for many years and actively involved in many projects. He was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow award for his service and last fall given the recognition of Hononary Member.
Family will receive friends at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston on Wednesday, April 30 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, May 1 at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow. Inurnment will take place at Harrowsmith Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. The ones that were close to his heart are Easter Seals, Rotary Club of Kingston, Shelterbox Canada and Polson Park Free Methodist Church.
