Clarence (Buck) TAYLOR
July 5 1931 – July 3, 2025
Passed peacefully away at the Caribou Memorial Veteran’s Pavilion on July 3, 2025, just 2 days short of his 94th birthday.
Predeceased by his wife Olwyn “Jean” (Howell) (2017), his parents Lemuel (1970) and Mary (Ash) (1967), his sisters Dorothy (William Heale, deceased), Verna (Alec Bursey deceased), Edythe Moffatt and brother Harold (Melba Bishop deceased).
Leaving to mourn his son and best buddy William (Bill), Sister-in-law Winnifred (Moores-Elms) (Harold) Brother-in-Law Roy Moffatt (Edythe) and special nieces Elizabeth Brown (Bob), Elaine Bursey (Kevin Penney) and Brenda Howell and wonderful soup maker Marilyn Costello and furry friend “Sam”, along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Originally from Harbour Grace, NL, he had a long career in the Canadian Air Force, taking him many places in the world until his retirement from CFB Greenwood, Nova Scotia. He then returned to Newfoundland in 1971. Buck was a past president of the Air Force Association of Canada – 150 Wing, member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 56, member of The Masonic, Lodge Westmoorland, member of the Men’s Club at Gower Street United Church, and honorary member of the St. John’s Lions Club. A sincere thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and staff at the Caribou Veterans Memorial Pavilion for their excellent care. You are all angels. Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations to Gower Street United Church or the charity of one’s choice. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, Hamilton Avenue, on Sunday, July 6, 2:00 to 4:30, 7:00 to 9:00 with service in Barrett’s chapel on Monday, July 7 at 11:00 am with reception to follow at Barrett’s. Following the reception, burial in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Field of Honor, at 2:00 pm with his wife Jean.
