Clare Henry Dietz
June 23, 1935 – July 22, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Clare Henry Dietz on July 22, 2025, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, at the age of 90.
Born on June 23, 1935, in Waterloo County, Clare was the beloved son of the late John and Ida (Wagler) Dietz. He was predeceased by his brother Earl Dietz and wife Mabel, and by his sister Magdalene Heyer and husband Roy.
A devoted and loving uncle, Clare will be dearly missed by Sharon Heyer, wife of the late David Heyer; Carolyn Heyer, wife of the late Douglas Heyer; Deborah Heyer, wife of the late Donald Heyer; and Diane Heyer. Clare cherished his relationships with his extended family and will be missed by his many great-nieces and nephews. He took great pride in their lives and accomplishments.
Clare lived a life rooted in purpose and passion. He had a deep love for the land, especially the beef cattle and the farm he nurtured in North Easthope Township. His quiet dedication to farming was matched only by his pride in his teaching career, which spanned 27 years. He taught with commitment and care in Blyth, Wellesley, and concluded his career at N.A. MacEachern Public School in Waterloo. Clare believed deeply in the value of education and the importance of inspiring young minds.
A thoughtful and inquisitive man, Clare found great joy in researching a wide range of topics especially matters connected to his family history and the world around him. His deep knowledge and quiet wisdom were gifts to all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to St. Agatha Mennonite Church, 1967 Erb’s Road, Baden, where Clare was a longtime and faithful member, on Friday, July 25, 2025, for a time of visitation from 10:30 – 11:15. A funeral will be held at 11:30 with Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the church yard cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to Mennonite Central Committee, or a charity of one’s choice, and can be done through the funeral home.
