Claire Wilson (nee Sheppard) Obituary
It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our matriarch, Claire on Monday, February 10, 2025 surrounded by love in her 98th year.
Loving mother of Michael (Kris McCann). Beloved Granny to Jason (Dana) and Ty (Baylee). Claire was a step grandmother to Marty Hartwick (Rhea) and Ali Hartwick (Jason). Claire was blessed with eight great grandchildren whom she loved dearly; Ryder, Liam, Rainie, Bryce, Rory, Harvey, Layn and Reggie. Predeceased by her loving husband Neil (2011), grandson Josh (2010) and brother Bill Sheppard (2016).
Claire devoted herself to her family, her church and her community. As a member of Stark’s Corners United Church she was dedicated to her religion and was a proud long-standing member of the United Church Women (UCW). Claire was also a faithful member of the Orange Lodge for many years.
Claire’s essence was woven into the fabric of simple joys – whether working on the farm, tending to her massive vegetable and flower gardens with loving care, playing bingo or a card game with friends or crocheting. All interests were performed with a big smile on her face.
You would never leave her house hungry. If she couldn’t make you a meal you would at least get some fresh baked cookies to go with your coffee. Depending on the time of day you may share a glass of rye with her.
Claire was a woman of strength and unwavering love. She brought joy and light into the lives of so many, always putting others before herself. Her legacy will live on in the strength and unconditional love she shared with her family and all those fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will remain forever in our hearts.

Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Friday, February 21, 2025 to Stark’s Corners United Church for Service at 11 a.m. Interment Stark’s Corners Community Cemetery in the Spring. Donations to Stark’s Corners United Church would be appreciated.
