The family announces with great sorrow her death at the Extendicare Timmins Nursing Home on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at the age of 82 years. She died peacefully with her loved ones by her side. After all those long and difficult years, she can finally rest and be free from pain.
She is the dear wife of 62 plus years to Gilbert Desjardins, mother to Lynn (Blaine) Smith. She was a lifetime care giver to her son Mark and for the past twenty years to her son-in-law Blaine.
She was predeceased by her son Mark Desjardins (2004), her parents Ernest (1982) and Blanche (2003) Gaudreau, her husband’s parents Victoire (2001) and Jean-Baptiste (2011) Desjardins, her sisters; Denise Schwarze (2001), Susan Jackson (2016), her brothers-in-law Jean-Claude Desjardins (2003), Victor Desjardins (2021) and her sister-in-law Aline Gaudreau (2024).
She will be sadly missed by her brothers Paul Gaudreau, Marcel Gaudreau, Mark (Ginette) Gaudreau, her sister Michelle Momy and her brothers-in-law; Robert (Terry) Desjardins, Karl Schwarze, John Jackson as well as her sisters-in-law Irma Desjardins, Pauline Desjardins, Suzelle (Gary) Metsala and Carmel (Serge) Arsenault.
She leaves as well many nieces and nephews who will never forget her kindness and loving ways. No more fear of looking into her eyes.
One of her greatest pleasures was playing cards: on Wednesday afternoons with her Card Ladies, Friday evenings with the family and on the weekends at the lake. It was a sad day when she could no longer play. She loved the smell of a simmering fire and the smell of fresh cut grass. Sunflowers were her all time favourite plant.
She had been an active member of the St. Anthony of Padua Cathedral Parish CWL, and the Ladies of the Knights of Columbus.
She and her family moved back to Timmins in the fall of 2000 to be close to family, a move dearly appreciated by all.
We wish to Thank Dr. DiTullio and to the excellent staff at Extendicare Timmins (Mattagami Unit) particularly; Val, Josee, Bianca, Karen, Tina and Lindsay for the care they provided to her.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial service will take place at the Miron-Wilson Chapel (Date and Time to be announced). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Timmins and District Hospital Foundation. The funeral arrangements are entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins, On
