In Loving Memory of Christopher Joshua George Brentnall
Christopher Brentnall of Gambo, Newfoundland, passed peacefully away at James Patten Memorial Hospital in Gander on March 9th, 2025, with his loving wife Helen by his side. He was 66 years of age.
Born on March 4th, 1959, Chris was a devoted father, husband, son, brother, and grandfather.
Chris spent most of his life living and working in Alberta with his family before retiring back to Gambo in 2017.
He loved cars and his work at Building Products in Edmonton, AB, spawned many great stories and he could bend your ear for hours. Helping others was natural to Chris. He was only a phone call away when help was needed. He had many friends who enjoyed sitting and chatting with him, as his family did, even if the stories may have sounded vaguely familiar. But that was Chris who loved to tell his stories and reminisce about the shared adventures he and his wife, Helen, had experienced.
In his later years, health issues would limit his adventures. But he was always up for a trip or for an adventure into the wilderness with his brother Robin, or having a smoke with Gary, sitting for a morning chat with his mother Marion, or on the phone with his two boys, Christopher and Joey. Later, his love of Facetime with his granddaughters would be a daily routine, letting them know how much he loved them and couldn’t wait to visit them.
But his main ambition was always to be with his loving wife Helen. They have traveled across Canada and into the United States when his health was better, only slowing down when he and Helen moved to Newfoundland, where they enjoyed being tourist, travelling and seeing small towns that had only been names on a map to him and Helen.
We were blessed to have the years we had with him and every memory and moment spent will be well cherished and thought of often in the years to come.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Helen; son’s Christopher (Jill) and Joey (Ashleigh), Granddaughters Charlotte and Avery, his mother Marion, mother-in-law Marie Bijelic; and brother’s Gary, Robin (Darlene), and Jamie (Tammy), and nieces and nephews.
Chris was predeceased by his father, Robert Brentnall; father-in-law Joe Bijelic; sister Cathy Chayko; sister-in-law Christine; brother-in-law Jon Bijelic.
Cremation has taken place, and a Memoriam is being planned for a future date.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
