Christopher (Chris) Geoffrey Chaloner
With his family by his side, Christopher (Chris) Geoffrey Chaloner passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the age of 64.
Beloved husband of Kelly Readman for almost 9 years and loving and proud father of Scott Chaloner (Amanda Labrosse), and Matthew Chaloner (Zoe), step father of Dana Jones (Scott) and Darren Metherall (Rosalind Naccarato).
Loving son to Mary Chaloner (Doyle). He was pre-deceased by his father George Chaloner.
Adoring grandfather to Keegan and Remy Chaloner, Grace and Jake Chaloner and Lily Jones.
Best friend and brother of Paul Chaloner (Christine). Beloved uncle to Brianne Chaloner (Joe Morritt), Candace Chaloner (Bryan Robles).
Loving brother-in-law, uncle, and great uncle to Kelly’s family including his father-in-law Lloyd Readman.
A man known for his quick wit, charm and charisma, Chris was an inspiration to his family and friends. His best friend and partner Kelly was his constant companion enjoying family gatherings, travel, gardening, and the simple quiet times together such as watching episodes of Coronation Street.
Born in Twickenham, England, Chris moved to Canada in 1967 where he spent the majority of his childhood in Orillia, Ontario. Chris attended ODCVI high school followed by business courses at Georgian College. He worked hard to achieve entrepreneurship with his brother Paul, opening their successful green grocery store, The Vegetable Patch, for over 20 years in Barrie. Following that Chris ventured off into landscape and property maintenance. He was well known to customers at Barrie’s Garden Centre and built a phenomenal number of lasting friendships.
Skiing was another of Chris’s passions. He could carve the snow like butter and with ease. With his mom by his side he taught ski school and Ski Bees. In the winter, and when he wasn’t working, he was still on the slopes smiling ear to ear. Chris was also a talented gardener, and an exceptional hobbyist/artist. His culinary skills were beyond words, and he always set a perfect table (napkins and all). He could capture the best fragrances, whether in the garden or his cologne (he always smelled amazing). If you couldn’t find Chris, just check the back garden.
A prankster by nature, Chris loved cheating at cards and board games, hiding inconspicuous items in your home for you to find much later. Always making you laugh.
Chris took on everything he did with love and passion. Friends and family were always his top priority. His joy in life was being the best husband, son, brother, dad, grandpa and friend. He had a caring calmness about him and internal strength beyond comprehension.
An amazing man, gone too soon. In Chris’s words….Holy Shitballs!
