It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Charles Edwards at Oak Terrace Long Term Care Home in Orillia, Ontario on Feb 15th , 2025 just shy of his 89th birthday. He was born in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia. Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Josephine Edwards.
Beloved husband of Joan (nee Hardy) for 63 years. Loving father of Donna Rundle (Rick) and Jim Edwards (Angie). Proud grandfather of Derek (Sarah), Amy (Jason), Addi (Ryan) and great grandfather of Everett and Reid. Dear Brother of Ruth, Betty (Robert) and brother-in-law of Ed. He is predeceased by his siblings Marguerite, John, Georgena, Daniel, Clarence, Lucy, Mildred, Malcolm, Josephine, Louise, Shirley and Edna. Charles will also be dearly missed by many other extended family members and friends.
Charles was a past member of the Canadian Armed Forces (RCR). He worked for many years in the grocery industry before joining the Ontario government. While there he worked in Security before joining the OPP Transport Branch as a Dispatcher and Bus Driver. He was a devoted Toronto Maple Leaf fan who loved to travel and in retirement enjoyed many years of wintering in Zephyrhills, Florida.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Canada through the Simcoe Funeral Home.
