It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Robert Douglas Butler, who went home peacefully on January 22, 2025, at the age of 83, surrounded by his loving family.
Charles was born in Cupids, NL on November 3, 1941. Predeceased by his parents, William and Doris, his brother Harold, sister-in-law Norma; and his beloved daughter Charlotte, who remains forever in their hearts.
Charles was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Shirley, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and cherished memories. together they built a strong and loving family that continues to carry forward his legacy.
He was a proud and devoted father to his children: Gloria (Joe) ,George (Sherri), Julie (Doug), Jeff (Michelle) and Yvonne).
Charles had a lifelong passion for building wooden boats, a craft that brought him immense pride and joy. Ho His dedication and artistry left a enduring mark on his community and family, who admired his skill and creativity.
He found immense joy in being a grandfather to Cory, Darrell, Robert, Natasha, Olivia, Madison, Alyssa, Rush, Austin, Mari, and Darcie.. He was a great-grandfather to Nola, Chase, Alexis, Bria Madison and Cameron, and a great-great-grandfather to Finley, Travis and Jason.
Charles is survived by his brothers, Fred (Sue). Ira, Frank (Diane), and Billy (Bertha) sister-in-law, Marie .Nephews, Glen (Jackie), Ross (Denise), and other nephews and nieces, who shared in many cherished memories of their family’s upbringing.
The family would like to extend a special acknowledgment to his nephew Scott for always being there foe Charles. Your unwavering support and care meant the world to him and will always be remembered with gratitude.
His family was his pride and joy, and his love for them was unwavering,, Charles will be remembered for his kindness, humor, wisdom, and the many ways he enriched the lives of those around him. He was at steadfast presence, a guiding light, and a source of strength for his family and friends.
Though his absence leaves a void that can never be filled, his memory will live on in the hearts of all that knew and loved him.
A celebration of Charles’s life will be held on January 28, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. from Broughton’s Memorial Chapel Brigus..
In lieu of flowers , the family asks that donations be made to the SPCA, Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation in honor of Charles’s generous and caring spirit.
