Charles Noel “Charlie” Gloade – 51,
Millbrook First Nation, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his
loving family, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Colchester East
Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late
Levi and Mary (Johnson) Gloade.
Charlie was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church,
Millbrook. He was an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed watching
and cheering on his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. He loved playing
darts and had a great sense of humour.
Charlie is survived by his siblings, Barbara Dorey, Richard
(Natalie) Gloade, Peter (Shelley) Gloade, Patrick Gloade, Kevin (Dora)
Gloade, Chief Robert “Bob” (Kelly) Gloade, all of Millbrook;
many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and
Godchildren. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his
brothers, Lester Gloade, Maurice Gloade; sister-in-law, Vera Gloade;
niece, Karlena Jane Gloade
Special thanks are extended to Sheila Johnson, his cousin,
caregiver and sign interpreter; his close friends, Beth and Kesik;
Millbrook Health Centre and Colchester East Hants Health Centre ICU
and Dialysis Unit.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Charlie’s
family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, February 20,
2025, and 2-8 p.m., Friday, February 21, 2025. Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated 12 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2025, at
Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Church Road, Millbrook.
Salité and meal will follow in Nora Bernard Community
Centre. Interment will be held at a later date in Sacred Heart
Cemetery. If so desired, donations in Charlie’s memory to
Kidney Foundation Atlantic (Truro Chapter) are
welcomed.
