Bathurst- It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of my husband, our father, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbour, Charles Hector Hachey, who passed away peacefully at his home on September 27, 2025, in his 80th year.
Charles was born in Campbellton, NB to the late Adelard Hachey and Leonie Essiembre in 1944.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Charles will remember his kindness, his thoughtfulness, his sense of humour, and his beautiful laugh that drew people to him.
His favourite expression, even in poor health was, “I can’t complain”. He was Mr. Fix it and always shared his knowledge and skills. He was a true gentleman admired and liked by so many people (and puppy dogs were always attracted to him).
This includes: the doctors, nurses, and staff at the hospital. Then Dr. R. Arseneau and all the extra mural nurses who attended to him from July 29, 2025, when he came home to palliative care until the time of his passing. I would thank you on his behalf.
He was a “Prime” customer right to the end; as the bed requested by extra mural on Sunday arrived the next day, even as the extra mural was telling him it should be in by Wednesday. We had a good laugh about that.
Charles will be missed by his wife, Dianna, His three daughters: Sylvie (Al), Linda (Claude), and Manon; brother: Guy (Cathy); my son: John; my daughter: Allison (Danny); my grandchildren: Kahler, Hazen (Sparrow), and Jessica (David); his grandchildren: Rachelle, Daniel, and Stephanie, plus his numerous nieces and nephews: Dolores, Diane, Jerome, Mark, Louis, Kim, Leona, Kevin, Guy and Linda; our friends and neighbour’s: Paul, Emma, Dale, Claudette, Steve, Mary, Susan, Maurice, Isabelle and Shadow, Jeannette, Linda, Max, Mike, J.P, Ricky, and so many more.
Charles was predeceased by his sister: Cecile; brother-in-law: Romeo; his brother: Felix; sister-in-law: Betty; his best friend: Louis ; and my daughter: Stephanie.
As per Charles’ request there will be no funeral service. He requested that you remember him from time to time and to go forward living a good life. Be kind always.
Even as he was preparing to leave this life, he thanked his wife, family, friends, and neighbour’s for their support.
Donations may be made in Charles memory to the fund to save The Old Bathurst Post Office or a charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Elhatton Funeral Home, Bathurst.
