Charles’ Obituary
Charles Cleveland Pothier – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, husband and friend. Charles Cleveland “Cleve” Pothier, age 84, of Sluice Point, passed away on January 26, 2025.
Cleve was born in Sluice Point on December 21, 1940. Like many young people at the time, Cleve relocated for various employment opportunities in both Canada and the United States.
In the 70’s He returned home to Sluice Point and established a career with the Department of Transportation as a dispatcher. He married his wife Debra Pothier (Muise), sharing 52 years together where they raised their daughter Jennifer and took on the role of mom and dad for several years as foster parents. In 2013, Cleve became Grand-Pere to his “little angel” Avah Pothier and the joy this brought him could be seen each time he laid eyes on her.
Cleve is survived by his wife, Debbie; his daughter, Jen (Apryl); granddaughter, Avah of Arcadia; daughter, Karen; grandchildren, Shiela and Michael; great grandchildren all of Massachusetts; siblings, Eileen, Sandra and Ronnie (Wendy). He was predeceased in death by his son, Michael; parents, Rita and Alcid; siblings, Patrick and Rebecca.
Cleve will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his love for his family and dedication to his favourite baseball team the Yankees. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter and granddaughter who loved listening to his many stories from the past and sharing a laugh with him. Cleve’s legacy of faith and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
The family would like to thank the 4th floor (North) staff of the Yarmouth Regional Hospital for their kindness, professionalism, and compassion. A special thanks to nurses, Stacey and Jen, who went above and beyond to provide care and support to Cleve and our family during this difficult time.
A gathering to celebrate Cleve’s life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 1p.m.-3p.m. at the Hubbard’s Point Community Centre. Friends and family are encouraged to attend. Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be provided. Family flowers only please. Donations in Cleve’s name can be made to the Canadian Red Cross.
