Obituary of Cedric Seaforth Veinotte
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cedric Veinotte, a man whose warmth, humor, and adventurous spirit touched everyone he met. Born in Sweetland, Nova Scotia, to Seaforth and Edna Veinotte.
In his early years, Cedric was a man of legend, known to many as a master moonshiner with a very interesting client list. His stories were as colorful as they were exciting, filled with tales of crazy deliveries and narrow escapes.
Cedric also had a deep-rooted love for his oxen. Throughout his life, he was proud owner of many teams.
A devoted family man, Cedric discovered his calling when he learned he was going to be a father. He pursued a career as a sheet metal worker, completing his apprenticeship and earning his Red Seal certification. His talent and dedication made him a sought-after professional in his field.
Cedric was known for his gift of gab and endless jokes (often of the colorful variety). He had a knack for making people laugh and could “sell ice to an Eskimo.”
After his children were grown, Cedric spent many happy years in Calgary, Alberta, with his beloved first wife of 43 years, Deb, until her passing in 2011. Following this loss, he returned to Nova Scotia, where he found love again with his second wife, Evelyn.
Cedric will be deeply missed by his wife Evelyn; his daughter Belinda (Stephen) Eichel; his stepchildren, Jacqueline (Tony) Allen, Anita Edwards (Warner Tucker), Ashley Edwards (Louise Poneroy); grandchildren Emma, Katherin, Stella, Vince, and Eva; his sister Darlene (Peter) Fralick; sister-in-laws April Rafuse (Earl Knox), Trudy (Tony) Ernst; his very special nephews and niece; and countless friends who cherished his humor and zest for life.
Along with his parents and first wife, Cedric was predeceased by his son Brian.
A celebration of his life will be held in the spring. In his memory and in lieu of flowers, go for an ice cream cone with a loved one or share your favorite joke.
Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater, where online condolences may be left at www.sweenysfuneralhome.com
Rest in peace, dear Cedric. Your laughter and love will forever echo in our hearts.
