In Loving Memory of Katherine (Cathy) Hildegard Tonelli (née Bodroghy)
June 28, 1951 – January 21, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Katherine (Cathy) Hildegard Tonelli (née Bodroghy), who left us peacefully at the age of 72.
Beloved daughter of Julius and Karoline (née Dopheide), both predeceased. Devoted wife to Wayne Tonelli. Loving mother to Jason (wife Kristen) and Jennifer (husband Michael), and proud “Gramma” to Elizabeth, William, and Fiona, the greatest joys of her life.
Cathy is also survived by her mother-in-law Raymonde Tonelli (husband Enso predeceased), her brother Otto (wife Sharon), sister-in-law Donna, nephews Todd and Donny (predeceased), and niece Cathy. She will be deeply missed by her dear friend Pam and many others whose lives she touched.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, Cathy brought light and love to everyone she met. In 1968, she moved to Sudbury, where she met the love of her life, Wayne. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family.
Cathy was a compassionate and dedicated nurse who found her true passion working in the NICU, a role she cherished until her retirement in 2008.
A gifted and talented stitcher, Cathy dedicated countless hours to her craft. She was a proud member of the Prim Stitchers’ Society and the Northern Needle Workers, forming lasting friendships with fellow enthusiasts across Canada and the United States. Her creativity and artistry will live on through the many special pieces she created.
Cathy’s kindness, humor, and devotion to her family and friends will forever be remembered. Her legacy is one of love, creativity, and an unwavering ability to bring people together.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Cathy’s memory to a cancer charity of your choice.
Memorial visitation at The Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home at 233 Larch St in Sudbury. Friends may gather after 1pm Wednesday January 29th 2025. Memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Jackson and Barnard Wednesday January 29th 2025 at 2pm.
