Obituary
Perry, Catherine “Marie”- Age 89, Shelburne, N.S, passed at Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on January 20, 2025.
Born at Hartford, Carleton County, N.B on 14th June, 1935. Only daughter of the Late Edward James and Helen Elizabeth (Corcoran) Markey.
She was a CNA- class of 1953- NBT Institute, Moncton, with affiliation to Roseway Hospital, Shelburne, N.S for practical experience.
Following graduation she was employed at the L.P Fisher Hospital, Woodstock, New Brunswick.
In May 1954 she was employed at the Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst, N.S.
She was the first staff member CNA to be an employee. The hospital was a training school for Registered Nurses.
In 1956 she returned to Roseway Hospital and became a staff member until 1964. She then became the staff nurse at Shelburne Medical Group- now – Shelburne Medical Associates. Until retirement in 1986.
She is survived by Brother – Henry, Montreal. Nephews, nieces and cousins.
She is pre-deceased by her husband of 59 years – the Late Norman Leigh Perry, brothers; Richard and Joseph, Gerald and Donald in infancy.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 58 Bulkley Street, Shelburne. Visitation to take place Friday January 24th at 5-7 pm from the Huskilson’s Funeral Chapel, 58 Bulkley Street, Shelburne. Funeral Mass will take place Saturday January 25th at 1:00 pm from the St. Thomas Catholic Church, 50 Bulkley Street, Shelburne. Reception to follow interment at St Thomas Catholic Church Hall. Donation may be made to St Thomas Catholic Church, Canadian Cancer Society, or a Charity of Choice. On-line condolences can be left for the family at www.huskilson.net
