Catherine’s Obituary
SULLIVAN (née Fredericks), Catherine Gail – Age 70 of Meteghan, passed away very peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Marilyn (Slaunwhite) Fredericks.
Catherine was a woman with a wonderful sense of humor with many friends and family who just adored her, especially the little ones in her life. She enjoyed walking the Meteghan beach everyday and she was a well known co worker and friend at Riverside Lobster. Before then, she was a barber here in Meteghan (Son Coiffeur), where she became a staple to this community for 40 years. She loved her friends. She had some special ones, like Glenda Comeau and Cindy Bonnanfant, who were there ‘til the very end, along with many more. And I mean many.
She loved all her grandkids and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed company right ‘til then end. If the house was crowded, she was happy. In the words of Cathy, “MA OUAIS, AND Y FAIT TI CHAUD ASSEZ POUR TOI?” She definitely learned a whole new language living here, and she had many sayings that we can’t wait to reminisce about. She loved her sisters very very much, and her two brothers. And one thing she proved to us was that family is not always blood. She was very popular here and people loved her like family. She would have wanted to give a big thanks to Dr. Erica Lasher, Dr. Philip Cooper, and many more as they took care of us ‘til the end. She felt no pain. We made sure of it as a team, so her wishes were granted and that’s all that matters.
She will leave a huge hole in all our hearts.
Catherine is survived by her former husband, Irvin Sullivan, Meteghan; her very special companion, Reginald Comeau; children, Carrie Driscoll (Dennis Dodgson), Dartmouth; Robert Snair, Timberlea; Jessica Sullivan (Terry Latter), Meteghan; siblings, Glenda (the late Claude) Aucoin, Halifax; Kenny (Janet), Timberlea; Donna (Clarence “Buddy”) Rushton, Dartmouth; Janice Smith, Sackville; Stephen Fredericks, Halifax; Heather Fredericks (Eddie), Sackville; grandchildren, Aaron King, Danielle King (Jordan Young), Lilla Snair and Gavin Snair; great-grandchildren, Travis, Marley and Jordan; Daisy the dog (nanny’s girl); numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her sister, Carolyn.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Meteghan Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Catherine’s memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Nova Scotia division.
