Catherine Ann “Kay” Mazepa
December 20, 1929 – December 29, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Catherine “Kay” Mazepa on Sunday, December 29, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 95 years and 9 days.
Kay leaves behind a legacy cherished by her three sons: Gerald (Karen), Kenneth, and Michael (Dorothy); her beloved grandchildren, Alexander (Marlese), Marisa (Spencer), Michael Jr., Sara (Thomas), Katelynn (Evan), Mathew (Stephanie), and Laura; and nine treasured great-grandchildren. She will also be deeply missed by her sister, Lillian Sidlowich, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
She was predeceased by her best friend and devoted loving husband of 69 years, Edward “Eddy”; parents, Mike and Anne Elkow; sister, Joey Kaye; and brothers, Nester and Johnny.
Kay lived a life full of love, dedication, and kindness. Her warm presence will be forever missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Thank you to the staff at Citadel Care Centre in St. Albert, particularly the second-floor team and her in-house physician, who provided dedicated, compassionate care to Kay and ensured that she was comfortable in her final days.
A Celebration of Kay’s Life will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 9 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel. 9709 – 111 Avenue NW, Edmonton with interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Kay’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Rest in peace, Kay. You will forever remain in our hearts.
