Obituary of Carol Joan Laidlaw
The family of Carol Joan Laidlaw are sad to announce her passing on which occurred at Bobby’s Hospice on March 10, following a valiant battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Donald and Pauline (Brittain) Laidlaw.
Carol had been an employee of the New Brunswick Museum for many years followed by the New Brunswick Housing Corporation from which she retired. Carol was raised in Hampton and had many fond memories of her youth spent with a loving and close family and many friends. Active in her youth, she particularly excelled as a swimmer having honed her skills at “the Beach” on Belleisle Bay and served as a lifeguard for several summers at the Hampton community pool.
Throughout her life, Carol had a great appreciation of the arts and literature. She enjoyed all music and was a keen and avid reader. She had a great wit, which she continued to display until her final days.
Carol placed great importance on her relationship with her family and friends. She was blessed with many special and close friends for whom she cared deeply. Equally, she was a doting aunt to her nieces and nephews with whom she loved nothing more than hanging out and having a good laugh.
Carol was a thoughtful and loving sister, aunt, great aunt, and loyal friend who will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched.
Carol is survived by her brother, Jim (Kathy) of Port St. Lucie, Florida; sister, Jeannie of Rothesay; brother, John (Sharon) of Rothesay; nieces and nephews, Craig (Meghan), Deanna (Justin), Brian (Danielle), Eric (Brett), Olivia (Leo), Adrienne (Jon); and several grand nieces and nephews, as well as a circle of wonderful and supportive close friends.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John NB (506-634-7424). Visitation will take place at Brenan’s Funeral Home on Saturday, March 15th, from 2 – 5pm. A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly welcomes donations to Bobby’s Hospice or the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
