In Celebration of
Carol Reynolds (née Briggs)
October 20, 1939 –
March 2, 2025
On March 2, 2025, Carol Reynolds (née Briggs) passed away peacefully at the age of 85. Born in Guelph, Ontario on October 20, 1939 to Thomas Edwin and Winnifred Briggs, Carol spent her childhood years in Guelph, Peterborough and Toronto, with her brother Tom, surrounded by aunts and uncles, cousins and grandparents. Predeceased by her husband Bill Reynolds, the love of her life, whom she married on November 15, 1958.
A loving mother to Lurene (Paul), Carolynne (Doug) and Dawn and devoted nana to Sarah (Karl), Amanda, Dylan and Mallory, she will be so missed by us all. Remembered as well by her her many cousins, and her nieces and nephews.
Mom was an avid bridge player with her close group of friends for many years (we will never forget the laughter when it was mom’s turn to host), an active bowler in her younger years and a very involved parent member at her daughters’ schools. An animal lover until the end, she loved her many pets from childhood and onward, and then visits with her many ‘grand-pets’.
She worked for Bell Canada for many years, before staying home with her children. She worked part-time when we were a bit older and returned full-time to the workforce in the 80s, where she worked for various credit unions until retiring in her 60s.
Many of the family’s fondest memories are with ‘mum’ at the cottage at Balsam Lake, a place loved by both Carol and Bill. For so many years, joyous weeks were spent ‘at the lake’ with her children and later her grandchildren as well. Playing games with nana and listening to her many stories are memories that they will cherish forever.
Her illness of the past several years robbed her of her short term memory, but until the final few months, she was still able to remember and reminisce of the very happy and loving times of the many years before.
Thank you to the staff at Bough Beeches Place for your wonderful care and kindness over the past 3 years.
To honour her wishes, cremation has taken place, and mom will soon rest with her beloved husband Bill.
Family and close friends may join us on Friday, March 14 at Turner & Porter, Butler Chapel (4933 Dundas Street West, Etobicoke) for visitation at 2:00 p.m., followed by the service at 3:00 p.m..
In lieu of flowers, if desired, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
