Carmela Gallant, 91, of Shediac, passed away on
Monday March 10, 2025, at her residence. Born in Scoudouc she was the
daughter of the late Calixte and Jeanne (Cormier)
Surette.
Prior to her retirement, Carmela worked as a
postmaster at the Grande-Digue post office for 30
years.
She is survived by her son, Rodrigue (Joanne) of
Grande-Digue; four surviving siblings: Ronald (Juliette) of Shediac
Road, Jean Edward, Napierville, QC, Rachael Geneau and Jocelyn Wallace
(Randy) both of Shediac; two grandsons: Mathieu (Rebecca Connors) and
Justin; four great-grandchildren: Charli Ann, Calixte, Zoe, and Zavier
and another great-granddaughter to be, as well as several nieces and
nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Antoine Gallant
(1989); two brothers: Léonard and
George.
The family would like to express a special thanks to
Mona Albert, her sister Jocelyn, and the Extra Mural for the excellent
care given.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette
Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (506-532-3297)
on Friday March 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. only. There will be no funeral
service. Interment will be at Notre Dame La Visitation cemetery in
Grande-Digue.
In memory of Carmela, a contribution to the Heart
& Stroke Foundation or Kidney Foundation would be
appreciated.
Cremation and
funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, Shediac.
