It is with broken and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our wife and sister, Carmel, on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Ottawa General Hospital. Born July 16, 1956 to the late David and Eva (Hillier) Flemming of Millville, Cape Breton, NS.
Carmel was self-assured, independent and carried herself with confidence. She was always ready with a witty remark or to strike up a conversation, even with strangers. Carmel took a keen interest in her nieces and nephews lives, always asking how they were doing. She had a strong sense of character and it was her strength of mind that carried her in the end. Carmel loved the city she lived in, always calling it The Capital, but was true to her hometown roots in Cape Breton. She loved to travel; England, Caribbean, Australia, but her favorite was a trip to Nova Scotia.
Survived by her husband Charles Robertson, Ottawa ON; brothers Arthur (Mary), Millville NS; Bernie (Sue Oliver), St. Catharines, ON; sisters Mary Ann (Harry) Jackson, Wileville NS; Carol (Ron) Theriault, Millville NS; Theresa, Halifax NS; Cecilia, Millville NS; Rose (Mark) Powell, Stillwater Lake NS; Karen (Stephen) Turple, Comox, BC; Fran (Blake) Clothier, Springfield Lake NS; Marg (Doug) Jessome, Millville NS; Eva (Tom Bevis), Halifax NS; stepdaughters Caroline (Adam) Maxwell, Seattle WA; Erica (Erin) RobertSmith, Standish, MN; Anissa Boosamra, Gravenhurst ON; Paula Boosamra, Australia; brother-in-law Iain (Clare) Robertson, Cornwall England, sister-in-law Elizabeth Flemming of Millville; numerous nieces and nephews; and very special friends Lynne & Wayne Corkum, Gloucester ON.
Predeceased by her husband Frank Boosamra, parents David & Eva Flemming, brothers Vincent and John David; two sisters in infancy; nephew Connor Bevis and stepson-in-law Len Elphick.
Entrusted to the care of Tubman Funeral Homes – Westboro Chapel, 403 Richmond Road (at Roosevelt) Ottawa ON. Memorial service to be held at Westboro Chapel on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 1:00 pm local time. Burial and memorial service in August 2025 in Bras d’Or, NS.
