Surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren, Carlo passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025, in his 80th year.
Carlo was a devoted husband to Maria, a loving father to his sons, John and Claudio (wife Rosaria), and his daughter, Loredana (husband Felix). He was a cherished and nurturing Nonno to Carlo, Brian, Anthony, David, Jonathan, Maria, Vienna, and Frederick.
He was dearly loved by his sister, Erminia, and his late brother, Carmine, as well as his in-laws, Paola, Michele, Adolfo, Jenette, Joe, Maria, Theresa, and the late Vincenzo. He will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and paesani.
Born in Latina, Province of Caserta, Italy, Carlo was raised in Statigliano by his grandparents while his parents worked toward a better life in Canada. Immigrating to Canada in 1963, he wrote a letter to his childhood sweetheart, Maria, proposing marriage, and in 1965, they were wed. Together, they built a beautiful family and founded Emery Woodworking Ltd. in 1972. For nearly 50 years, Carlo dedicated himself to his craft, producing fine wood products.
Coming from humble beginnings, through hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance, Carlo and Maria worked together to become successful entrepreneurs. Into his retirement, they continued working and are well known in the community as respected, fair-minded business leaders in real estate along Highway 50 and Healey Road in Bolton.
Carlo fiercely loved and took immense pride in his family. He worked alongside his sons, John and Claudio, for decades and, in later years, with his daughter, Loredana. Whether in the shop or at home, he was a role model, teaching his children and grandchildren the values of fairness, hard work, optimism, and joy.
Never one to shy away from a lively debate, Carlo always remembered where he came from and often expressed gratitude for the opportunities that Canada provided. He loved sharing his wisdom—whether about making a good business decision, the perfect glass of homemade wine, the tastiest sausage, or growing the sweetest tomatoes.
Carlo will be deeply missed by his family, friends, paesani, and business associates. He will be forever remembered as a generous soul, an innovative thinker, an open-minded spirit, and a warm-hearted storyteller.
The family will receive friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213), on Tuesday evening, March 18, from 4 – 8 o’clock.
A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Patrick’s Church, 11873 The Gore Road, Brampton, on Wednesday morning, March 19, at 11 o’clock.
