Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family announces his sudden passing of Carl Edson Nix, 76, of Collingwood on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025, at home surrounded by family. Carl was born on April 5th, 1948, in Oxford, Nova Scotia to the late Norma (Palmer) and Churchill Nix. Carl worked for many years with Cumberland Paving, bus driving, blueberry farming, and ending his career with 30+ years with Bragg Lumber as a blueberry harvest operator, and maintenance. Carl and Churchill, for many years, worked the family maple woods. Carl loved his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Once he was retired, Carl was able to enjoy spending his summers at the cottage in Pleasure Cove. Carl leaves behind the love of his life, Gloria (Mills). He is also survived by his sons, Chris (Carrie), Pugwash, Troy (Heather), Leicester; grandchildren, Charlie, Crystal-Anne, and Chelsea; great-grandchildren Paisley and Churchill John; sisters, Wanda Lavers, Oxford; Faye (Brian) Wood, Oxford Junction; Jenetta Nix (Nancy), Amherst; sisters-In-law, Joyce Nix (Tom), Pugwash; Beverly (Eric) Hunter, Springhill; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents, Carl is proceeded by his son, Carl Allen in infancy; his mother and father-in-law, Evelyn and Greg Mills; brothers-in-law, Kenny Lavers and Fred Nix. Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be from 1-2 pm, followed by memorial service at 2 pm Tuesday, February 18th in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Oxford. Donation in Carl’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice. Carl’s family would like to thank the Collingwood Fire Department, EHS Paramedics, and the RCMP for their quick and caring response.
