Calvin Chayter Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Calvin Henry Chayter, devoted husband, loving father and father-in-law, and treasured Poppy and brother.
Calvin was born in Peterview Newfoundland, on January 19, 1951, to, and predeceased by, his parents, Maxwell and Minnie Chayter, and left us peacefully on January 3, 2025. He was 73 years old.
For 53 wonderful years, he shared his life with his beloved wife, Barbara, offering her his unwavering love and support. Together, they created a home filled with joy and laughter, nurturing their three daughters: Debra (Steve), Jennifer and Laura-Lee (Trevor). Calvin was not just a father but a guiding light in their lives, always encouraging them to pursue their dreams. Calvin also had a deep appreciation for his son-in-laws, Steve and Trevor, respecting the love and partnership they brought to his daughters’ lives.
As a proud Poppy, he delighted in the company of his eight grandchildren ~ Ella, Caleb, Evan, Gavin, Sydney, Brandon, Garrison and Sawyer ~ showering them with affection and love. He understood the importance of family, and they were his everything. His legacy will live on through the love and values he instilled in each of them.
An active man, Calvin enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, finding joy in walking and playing golf. You would often see him walking around town everyday, for miles. His infectious laughter and warm smile could light up any room, and his sense of humor was a gift that brought joy to all who knew him.
Calvin will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered, for the love he shared and the memories he created. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to family. He will be missed by his siblings, his family, extended family, and his many friends.
