Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dearest aunt and sister, in her 93rd year, surrounded by her loving family at St. Joseph Hospital on March 4, 2025. Predeceased by her parents Angelo and Nicolina Cino. Beloved sister to the late Rosalia (late Pietro) Curto, the late Giuseppina (late Angelo) Agro, the late Calogero Cino and the late Grazia (Salvatore) Milioto. Cherished aunt to Angela (Walter) Batelic, Nicolina (David) Freitas, Fiorella Milioto, Carmelo (Micaela) Milioto, Nicolina and the late Charlie Agro, Lillo (Serafina) Curto, the late Angelo (Franca) Curto, Nicolo (Concetta) Curto, Giuseppi (Graziella) Curto, Salvatore Curto and Giovanni (Giovanna) Curto. Adored great aunt to Anthony, Adriana (Batelic) and Grace, Ella, Aiva (Younge). Will also be missed by many great nieces and nephews from Canada and Italy. Lilla was also loved and will be missed by many relatives and friends from Canada and Italy.
Born 1932 in Racalmuto, Sicily, Italy; Lilla immigrated to Canada in 1965 to start her future in Hamilton, Ontario. She spent many years working as a Seamstress and retired at Coppley. Her hands were a testament to years of careful practice, nimble fingers that could transform a simple piece of fabric into a work of art. With each stitch, her hands moved with accuracy and precision, effortlessly shaping the clothing to something beautiful. Lilla also had a deep passion for baking and cooking; using food as a way to tell stories and connect with us. Delicious dishes were a way she expressed her love for all of us. Lilla was a proud supporter of Racalmutese community and Maria SS. del Monte of Hamilton. She lived her life relying on God for strength and guidance; giving the Lord all gratitude for her blessings. Now she is safely home in His arms.
Our Zia Lilla will never be forgotten. We will carry her memory with us always, and she will live in our hearts forever. “Ci vediamo Colomba.Grazie per tutto quello che hai fatto per noi. Ora riposa in pace. Un abbraccio alla mamma da tutti noi; Angela, Nicolina, Fiorella e Carmelo. Ti amiamo.”
A heartfelt thank you to the dedicated staff at Ridgeview Long-Term Care Home/Gage House who took special care of Lilla and making her stay so enjoyable. She loved you all and felt part of a family.
Visitation will be held at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL (43 Barton St. E.) on Sunday March 9, 2025 from 2-7 pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena (620 Rymal Rd. E.) on Monday March 10, 2025 at 10 am with entombment at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Stoney Creek.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to Hamilton’s Good Shepherd and Help Heal Humanity.
