CRANE (NEE BUCHAN), C. PATRICIA: September 3, 1940 – February 17, 2025 in her 85th year. Passed away at Mackenzie Health, Richmond Hill. Daughter of Catherine and Alec Buchan (both deceased), sister to John (deceased). Patricia leaves behind her husband Henry, children David Crane and Catherine Robertson (Graham), grandchildren Julia and Laura -Hunter Robertson, sister-in-law Deborah and many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Patricia was a long time resident of Richmond Hill. Born in Cupar, Saskatchewan, she was raised on the family farm near Southey, Saskatchewan. She graduated in Dietetics at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. She did an internship at Toronto Western Hospital becoming a registered dietitian then worked at Sunnybrook Hospital. Following a trip to Europe to meet her penpals, she changed paths and went to OISE to become a home economics and English teacher. After a pause in her career to raise children, she returned to Dietetics becoming a Consulting Dietitian for many Long term care facilities in the GTA. She volunteered as co-chairperson of the Canadian Federation of Camping Families. In retirement she was very involved in Folk dancing, Square dancing and Ballroom dancing. She was also highly involved in the church and with her grandchildren. She was a long time parishioner at St. Gabriel’s Anglican Church and then later on served on the Altar Guild and taught Sunday school at Emmanuel Anglican Church.
A visitation will be held at Marshall Funeral Home, Richmond Hill on Friday the 28th of February from 2-4 pm and from 6-8 pm. A memorial service will be held on Saturday the 1st of March at Emmanuel Anglican Church, Richmond Hill at 1pm. In Lieu of flowers, donations to the Richmond Hill Food Bank would be appreciated.
