Obituary
Bryan Bennett
With sadness as well as gratitude for a long life well lived the Bennett family announces the passing of our much loved Bryan at age 97, husband and partner of Gudrun for 62 years, caring and generous father of Richard and Roberta, Nicole and Mark, adored grandpa of ten grandchildren as well as great grandfather of eleven and counting.
Born in Wales, UK, Bryan spent his early childhood in India before he was sent to the UK for school. He ultimately returned to Asia via Malaya and Singapore through military conscription. Fond of the tropics, he stayed on in the Far East then on to the Caribbean, working for Tate and Lyle while married to Sheila . Eventually he tired of the tropics and decided to come to Canada which he loved for the rest of his life. Here he met Gudrun and together they raised his second family. as well he later started his own business which upon his retirement spanned 3 continents and, given its nature, led to an exciting and adventurous global life for both.
He was a skier into his early eighties, an enthusiastic golfer for whom St Andrews was the proverbial magic kingdom, he also played tennis and squash. He was a tireless traveler into his early nineties until a bad car accident cramped his style.
We will miss him and his boundless optimism for ever.
There will be a celebration of his life on October 10th at the Oakville club at 4pm and friends are invited to join the family to raise a toast or two to Bryan’s extraordinary life.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Food for kids of Oakville or a charity of your choice.
