Bruce was born on August 11,1943 in Halifax, Nova Scotia and led a successful and rewarding life. He grew up in the Fairview, Halifax area, where the Deal family settled after immigrating from Germany in the 1700’s. Having married his high school sweetheart, Bruce, Elaine and their four children lived in Kentville, Nova Scotia for many years. In the mid 1970’s, Bruce would move to Yellowknife and then settle in Hinton, Alberta. During this time, he married Helen. Bruce loved the small town of Hinton and the majestic mountain landscape. He would become an avid downhill skier and a fan of the Edmonton Oilers hockey team. Bruce was a proud member of the Hinton AB Rotary Club and would serve as Mayor of Hinton for a term. Bruce loved the game of bridge, a grilled rare steak, and a good feed of lobster.
Bruce’s accounting career spanned 50 years. In his early years, Bruce worked for General Foods (Hostess Chips) and at Price Waterhouse & Co. His passion for accounting culminated in the establishment of his own accounting firm in Hinton, Alberta the Bruce L. Deal Professional Corporation, where he proudly served his clients for many years.
Bruce loved to travel, including trips to Africa, Alaska, China, Germany, England, Turkey, New York, and Las Vegas to name a few. And he often travelled back to Nova Scotia to visit family and was so proud of his Nova Scotia heritage. He would eventually return to Nova Scotia in 2020 to live out his remaining years.
