Obituary of Brian Ronald Sleep
Brian Ronald Sleep (February 23, 1950 – January 28, 2025) of Minto, New Brunswick, died peacefully after an extremely difficult battle with cancer.
In addition to his loving wife, Louise Sleep, Brian is survived by his daughter, Nicole (Donald) Shorrock; son, Jeffery (Maryann) Sleep; granddaughters, Emma, Irelyn, and Willow; mother, Joyce Sleep, and his sister Wanda (Henry) Wall.
He is predeceased by his father, Ronald Sleep.
Brian lived a quiet life. He loved all animals and would make sure they were always fed. He was known for rescuing kittens, feeding wildlife, talking to crows and admiring eagles. He spent his retired days fiddling with machines of all kinds, woodworking, repairing his vehicles, going for drives and watching planes fly overhead.
From assisting in the building of the Burton bridge, to building computers, Brian was a jack-of-all-trades. He worked at Eastland and mined for coal, learned French just to communicate with coworkers, and built planes in his free time as he always dreamed of flying. He had a fascination with eagles, and believed them to be an incredibly beautiful creature because of their intelligence, grace and persistence; qualities he also happened to possess.
Brain had a beautiful soul, full of love and care for those close to him. He had an even more beautiful mind. He was a very private man who worked hard for everything he had and needed no recognition for his accomplishments. He was an incredibly intelligent man who could figure out just about anything.
He was a music fanatic who could play just about any instrument put in front of him. He loved reading, so music came easy for him. He had such a love for anything instrumental that he had even made his own mandolin. He was known for playing beautiful music at any given moment. Bluegrass music has been a huge motivator of his musical life. It gave him his drive to play and create his own instruments.
He will be forever remembered by his loved ones and life-long friends he made along the way. To anyone who was lucky enough to know the amazing man that Brian was, we thank you for your kindness and prayers at this time as we reminisce the beautiful life that Brian lived.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 4th, 2025, at the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel, beginning at 11:00am, with Fr. Peter Osborne officiating. Memorial donations are graciously declined, Brian’s wishes were that families instead put food on their own tables and gas in their cars.
