It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Brian Harvey Buchanan on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at the age of 61 after a short but devastating illness.
Born in Chatham, Brian is the son of the late George and Donna Buchanan (Broadbent). Beloved husband of 26 years to Kelly Buchanan (Crackel). Devoted father to Jaden, Brendan, and Kaylin Buchanan all at home.
Loving brother of William (Charlene) and the late Linda Buchanan, the late Wendy Higgins (Buchanan), and Cheryl Smith (Buchanan) and her husband Jim. Brother-in-law to Jim Higgins (Valerie).
Dear son-in-law to Ewart and Nancy Crackel. Brian was like a son to them, and they were second parents to him. Brother-in-law to Corey and Audra Crackel and Kenny and Kim Crackel.
Special uncle to Janet Coulis (Chris), Adam Smith, Olivia Crackel, Brady Crackel, Daniel Crackel, and Sadie Crackel.
Brian spent his career working in the IT field, most recently at RM Sotheby’s since 2012. This was his dream job as he was a huge “car guy.” His passion was the 1928 Model A he lovingly restored and was so very proud of. He was a member of the Kent Historic Auto Club and loved taking the Model A to car shows in the summer.
Brian was known as “Mr. Fix It” and could always come up with a solution to fix anything.
Brian was lovingly welcomed into the Providence United Church family when he married Kelly and became a valued member of the Church community.
Brian’s family was everything to him. He adored Kelly and their three children, Jaden, Brendan, and Kaylin and the beautiful life they built together. They will miss him tremendously. The entire Buchanan and Crackel families will miss him dearly as well. He will always be lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Family will receive friends at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, on Friday, April 18, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
The Kent Historic Auto Club walkthrough will take place at 7:00pm.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 11:00 am. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, sympathy donations may be made to Jaden, Brendan, and Kaylin’s education fund (cash or cheques payable to Kelly Buchanan only at the Funeral Home please, or e-transfer to buchs5@gmail.com).
