Brandon Charles Hazlett Steben Obituary
STEBEN, Brandon Charles Hazlett
1992 – 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Brandon Charles Hazlett Steben of Madoc, Ontario, on Sunday, February 23rd, 2025, at the age of 32.
Brandon was born on March 10th, 1992, in Kitchener, Ontario and lived in South Central Ontario before choosing to make his home in Madoc where he had enjoyed summers on his grandparents’ acres as a child. Much loved son of Charlene Steben of Wasaga Beach and Wade (Ann Foster) Hazlett of Oshawa. Cherished grandson of his beloved Bampa Murray (late Diane née Laidlaw) Steben, and Gord and Sandy Hazlett. Fondly remembered by siblings Ashley and Cody, niece Kendra, nephews William and Lucas, and other family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his partner Emma Timusk.
Those who know Brandon will attest that he had many interests and pursuits and approached them all with zeal and seemingly boundless energy. He was an avid gardener, growing heritage fruits and vegetables, and loved fostering gardens in private and public spaces. He enjoyed the outdoors and was both a keen naturalist and a naturist. He was a devoted carer to his dogs and a collection of rescued cats. He felt a strong sense of ‘hiraeth’ and loved researching his family roots, spending countless hours on genealogy websites and ambling through old cemeteries. He had a gifted IQ and was happy to discuss any topic, and what he didn’t already know, he was quick to research and relate back to you. He could repair or build just about anything. He was a good friend.
Friends and family are invited to Celebrations of Life which will be held on Thursday, March 6th from 3-6pm at Finn’s Pub in Madoc, and on Saturday, March 8th at a location in Oshawa to be determined.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Central Hastings Support Network would be much appreciated. The CHSN Madoc Food Bank was one of the community organizations that Brandon actively supported.
Rest in peace, Brandon. You will be missed.
