Obituary of Blaine Robert Sloat
Passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025 at WRHN Queen’s Blvd (formerly St. Mary’s Hospital) at the age of 68.
Blaine will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Wendy. Survived by his brother Jim Sloat and Laura Schenk, of Proton Station. Brother in law to Ann and Stephen Middleton, of Mulmur, Paulette Langlois and Al Simmons, of Coldwater, and Peter and Kathy Langlois, of Brantford.
Blaine worked at JM Schneider Meats from 1976 until 2012, when he retired. While he was still working in the 90’s and early 2000’s, Blaine was a volunteer at Waterloo Regional REACT and Box 690. He loved assisting the first responders any way that he could.
Special thank you to the caring staff in ICU at WRHN Queen’s Blvd for their care and compassion. Also thank you to all the family and friends that help with driving back and forth to the hospital and bringing food. Your kind gestures mean so much. Also special thanks to Blaine’s aunt, Barb Foerster of Waterloo, and Blaine’s cousins LouAnn and Bob Schmitt of Baden, Brian Foerster of Kitchener and Tim Foerster of Mississauga. Also special thanks to Wendy’s long-time dear friends, Ayla Mackie and Alex Malcolm of Kitchener, who spent both Friday and Saturday at the hospital with Wendy, to provide support when she needed it most. Thanks go out to long-time friends Marjorie Flohr of Minden and Anita Cavic of Kitchener and members of the Waterloo Legion and Ladies Auxiliary who provided help with transportation to and from the hospital, as well as help in many other ways.
A Celebration of Blaine’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at the Waterloo Legion, 316 Marsland Drive, Waterloo.
