Bill was a Life Member and Past President of the Kinsman Club of Chatham. He was also the past Chairman for the Cystic Fibrosis Society. In his younger years he enjoyed swimming, collecting stamps and being involved in Scouting where he earned many badges. He was the owner of Bill Pickle’s Deli for 4 years. Bill enjoyed his time working with Home Depot for a number of years, along with Motor Wheel, Penske, Gordon’s, and Wendy’s. Bill loved to spend his free time gardening, camping, hiking the various trails around Chatham Kent, picnicking, playing board/card games with friends and family and of course cooking. He could often be found with a nice cold beer sitting around the campfire, roasting chickens on the spit for everyone to enjoy. He also loved to cheer his children on in all the sports they participated in. Those that knew him well called him the Rubbermaid King due to his larger than life collection of various sizes of storage containers. He was also known for his love of HOT AND SPICY food.
Bill will forever be missed by his family and friends.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to friends, Bob & Sheila Hughes and Debbie Baverstock for their untiring devotion to Bill’s care. They stayed by Bill’s side until Carol could get back home to be with him. They would also like to thank the staff of Riverview Gardens Nursing Home, 2 East for their love and compassionate care. The Honour Guard was a beautiful send off for Bill.
Family to receive friends on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Holy Trinity/St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 81 Selkirk Street, Chatham from 1:00 pm until a Celebration of Bill’s life at 2:00 pm. As per Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
