Obituary of Bill Grieve
GRIEVE, William ‘Bill’ took his last breath peacefully at Lion’s Head Hospital early Thursday morning March 6, 2025. Bill Grieve of Lion’s Head in his 94th year. Beloved husband of Jean. Cherished father of Angela Elliott (Andy) of Lion’s Head and Cheryl Hooker (James) of Lion’s Head. Much loved grandpa of Andrea, Emily (Connor), Jacob, Brody and Brianna and great grandpa of Allison, Luke and Brayson. Predeceased by parents Bernice (nee Shoemaker) and John Grieve and sister Mary-Lou McClenaghan (David).
Dad was born and raised in Guelph, where he first started to fish, hunt and trap. Dad also raised pigeons as a teen and is still listed in the record books for the fastest pigeon in Canada going 1840 yards a minute.
Dad also was a machinist and worked at Black Clawson Kennedy for 9 years and this is when he met Mom.
Dad attended Ranger School in Dorset and became a Game Warden on the Bruce Peninsula for 25 years. Dad said ‘This was the best job he ever had!’.
Dad had a wide range of knowledge and everything was a teachable moment. We learned so much from Dad (Grandpa). You will be so missed. May your soul rest in peace.
‘All fishermen are liars except you and me, and I’m not too sure about you.’
‘A penny saved is a penny earned.’
‘You’re burning daylight.’
