Obituary of Bill Gilmour
Bill (William) Hugh Gilmour of London, Ontario passed away peacefully in his family home on Monday, March 3rd, 2025 at the age 64. A loving and attentive son to the late Janet (Darby) and William Gilmour, Bill was born in Quebec on September 21st, 1960. In his later years he worked at Winmar Property Restoration as the Equipment Manager, where he enjoyed working alongside Pat and Cindy. Bill’s abilities and interests spanned many genres and numerous decades. He shared a workshop with his best friend Scott Meek, where the two shared as many interests as they did conversations. Being ever present in Scott’s life, he rapidly became family and dear friend to his son Josh Meek. He brought a sense of wonder and possibility to the world that no other could ever hope to produce. Bill spent many Christmases and special occasions with the Meeks. It was a home he was always welcome in. Throughout the years he worked on countless projects for friends and family. His hands deftly created things no one but Bill could understand. A sense of awe often accompanied whatever field he decided to pursue next. He was a brilliant, curious and reliable man with a caring nature and a gentle demeanour. The loss of his presence will be a loss of talent, of wonder and of care, and an absence felt by many.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Friday, March 21st, 2025 at the McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home at 2240 Wharncliffe Rd S at 6:00 pm. Visiting will be one hour prior from 5-6. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House or to the Ontario Wildlife Federation in memory of Bill. Please join us in honour and remembrance of our dear friend. He will be fondly missed.
