Wilhelm J. Sebel
May 28, 1940 – January 13, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Sebel, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He departed this life on January 13, 2025 at the age of 84, leaving a legacy of love, kindness, and wisdom that will forever remain in our hearts.
Born on May 28, 1940 in Leiden, Netherlands, William was a man of unwavering integrity and deep compassion. William was predeceased by his parents Cornelis Sebel (1997) and Christina Döll (2002). Also predeceased by his siblings – Lies (1995), Ria (2005) and Koos (2007). He is survived by his brother Peter.
For 60 years, he was the devoted husband of Agnes (Tina) Sebel (nee Van Winden), a bond that stood as a testament to enduring love and partnership. Dad was a good man who lived by his convictions and his faith. Dad and Mom, along with 2 young children and a cousin, arrived in Canada on a snowy February morning in 1969 and made a wonderful life for their family.
Dad was a hard worker and worked most of his life in agriculture. He spent the majority of his working career at Cold Springs Farm in Thamesford, ON and Homeland Grain in Burgessville, ON. Dad had a lifelong passion to collect things and was an avid Elvis Presley fan. Once he retired, he found another passion in golf and often bragged about his 3 holes-in-one he amassed in his playing career. Later in life when his body was beginning to tire and could no longer walk or ride the course…he found other solaces in puzzles – board puzzles and crosswords. Dad had his own system to completing these puzzles with methodology and discipline, much like how he lived his life.
Family was the cornerstone of his life, and his greatest joy came from time spent with those he loved. He leaves behind his three children Christel Hiuser (Keith), Sandra Deadman (Ken) and Edwin Sebel (Natasha) – his six granddaughters Amber Wilson (Jordan), Megan Deadman (Adam), Mikaela Sebel (Matthew), Erika Hiuser (Jordan), Marissa Sebel (Liam) and Erin – and his four great grandchildren, Ever and Echo Knetchel-Hiuser and Isaac and Mia Wilson. We all cherish the memories he gifted us.
While his absence leaves an irreplaceable void, we find comfort in knowing his influence will live on in the lives of those he touched.
Visitations will be held at Smith-Leroy, Woodstock, ON Thursday January 16th from 4pm-6pm and a funeral will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Woodstock, ON Friday, January 17th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Diabetes Canada.
Rest in peace, “Wimpy”. You are deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
“Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind.”
-Elvis Presley
