Obituary
Bill Grace was the best at Life.
Raised by a large family of Newfoundlanders, Bill had a special spirit about him. He was always happy and welcoming and ready with a joke.
After his father passed away, when Bill was only three, he spent his childhood in Montreal. He was quite an athlete and had great success.
For high school, Bill decided to move to Goderich where his older siblings had settled. He had such affection for his brothers and sisters, and his nieces and nephews, and will be very missed by his brother Donal.
It was in Goderich where Bill found the love of his life. The cute girl at the ice cream shop gave him a triple scoop so he knew the feeling was mutual.
He married Martha Bedard on September 5th, 1959. They had over sixty years together. Even during their later years they looked at each other with so much love. It was a beautiful thing to see so much devotion and care for each other. Friends and family would always comment on the love birds. Bill truly loved Martha’s family as much as his own. They had beautiful times in Goderich at the beach and playing cards.
Bill worked loyally for one company his whole career, Bell Canada. He was an avid sportsman for all their teams.
Martha & Bill moved to Chatham, where they raised their three kids: Gord (Michelle), Jo-Anne (David) and David (Heidi). He was an amazing father and was involved in everything they did. He coached their teams and cheered them on in all their life pursuits. He then showed the same joy and pride with the next generation as he referred to them as the Super Seven: Sam, Jessica, Renee, Clark, Rylee, Charlee and Adam.
Pops taught us the most important lessons in life of loyalty and love. May his spirit live on in all his family.
Visitation will be held at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home Thursday July 3, 2025 from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm with service to follow in the chapel at 1:00 pm.
