Peacefully, with family by her side, on January 7th 2025 at the age of 88. Predeceased by her loving husband Amin (Rajah) Sankar.
Devoted and loving mother of Yasmin (Nasir “Dereck”), Soraya (Allan), Imran, Farah, and Ferial. Special gran of Joshua (Ary). Dear sister of Hassan (Elise), Omar (Anne), and predeceased by Zaman and Tofa Mohamdee.
Sister-in-law of Tara Mohamdee, Fuad (Nari) Sankar, and Lyla Kissoon. Cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews. Rabia was loved by many and will live forever in our hearts.
The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at the Montfort Hospital for their compassionate care, and to the PSWs who cared for Rabia at home. A special thank you to Sarah Gilbert, Care Coordinator at Ontario Health at Home, for her guidance and help during this difficult time, and to the Ruddy-Shenkman staff for making Rabia comfortable during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Society are appreciated by the family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 10:30am to 11:30am followed by prayers at Tubman Funeral Home Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road, Ottawa. Graveside service to follow at Pinecrest Cemetery, 2500 Baseline Road, Nepean, at 12:30pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
