Beverly MacDougall Obituary
The family of Beverly MacDougall is saddened to announce her passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, February 17, 2025, after a brief illness. Born in Saint John NB, Bev was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Annie Dunn, her sisters and brother, and her son Bradley. She was the last of the Dunn children.
Bev lost her partner in life, Len Alchorn, last August and as she said goodbye she asked him to “walk slowly and wait for me.” She is with Len now and at peace.
She leaves behind her sons, Stephen (Kathy) and Dana (Sandra); her beloved grandchildren, Nathan (Erika), Natasha (Kurtis), Mark (Jana), Dallen, Logan, Cheryl, Joey, Buddy and Adrianna; great-grandchildren, Brianna, Kiera, Emma and Jack; as well as great friends Angie and Abby and close relatives, Helen and Barb.
She was a great cook and baker. Walking into her house, you never knew what you would be greeted with, from sugar cookies to pies or squares, the assortment was endless. She always made sure her guests had something to eat even if they didn’t want it. Nobody left hungry. Cats and dogs were a big part of her life. Her cat, Cosmo, could be found on hers or Len’s knee getting head scratches but more often meowing for treats or wanting out. Before Cosmo, there was Kramer the dog and many others before that.
For her, family was important especially during the holidays. For years, she hosted the holiday meal, complete with her fantastic turkey or roasts, while other times she would call the family together for pizza at her place. Her door was always open to anyone in her neighborhood, no matter the time of day and she would cook meals for those who were alone.
One thing was certain, she made sure she gave you an “I love you” as you left her presence each time.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home where a viewing will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 1:30-3:30pm, with a funeral service to immediately follow in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA, Parkinson’s Society or charity of your choice.
