Bev’s Obituary
Heaven just got a little brighter. Suddenly on June 6, 2025, Bev Wakeford, of St. George, passed away at the age of 83. He was a loving husband and best friend to Judi for 62 years, and soulmates since they were sixteen. He was a father to Shawna MacKenzie (deceased), Shane Wakeford (Terina), Coral Williams (Tom), and Dana Landsborough (Paul), a grandfather to ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Bev is survived by his sister, Paula Grimes (Dave) of Ingersoll. Predeceased by his parents Carmen and Alma Wakeford of Cambridge.
Bev lived a life full of laughter, love for his family, fishing, bad jokes, tinkering in his tool shed, cruising in his golf cart enjoying a stogey, gardening, while exuding a quiet strength. Later in life he was a champion of “resting his eyes,” watching hockey, and adoring his wife Judi who he lovingly referred to as “the warden.” He loved deeply without condition and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
His legacy did not have measurement, though he had so much to be proud of. In the lives that he touched, they felt kindness, patience, and humour. He taught us to work hard, laugh often, and never take life too seriously. We say goodbye with sadness, but even more with gratitude. Thank you, Bev/Dad/Grandpa/Friend, for everything. Your love shaped us, and your memory will guide us.
Friends will be welcomed at the Dwayne D. Budgell Funeral, 1105 Rest Acres Road, Paris, Ontario on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 3 pm – 5 pm. In accordance with Bev’s expressed wishes, cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Nova Vita Brantford would be appreciated by the family.
