BEATRICE (BETTY) WILLIAMS (nee Linton)
Passed away peacefully on December 4th, 2024, in her 95th year with family at her bedside, in Collingwood, Ontario. Betty’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, whose warmth and kindness has left an indelible mark on everyone she has met. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of her generous heart, sharp wit, delicious family meals and unwavering support.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband Robert (Bob) and their son Glenn. She is survived by her children, Bonnie (Bill), Catherine (Stephen), her grandchildren, Graham (Leslie), Linton (Alison), Lauren (Derek), Robert (Sandra), Meredith (Dan), Spencer, Madeleine (Tom) , her daughter-in-law Karen and brother-in-law Ted Williams. Great-grandmother to Cameron, Maggie, Henry, James, Maeve, Clare, June and Robert. Betty is predeceased by her brother, William Linton.
Born in Peterborough, Ontario on May 21, 1930, Betty lived most of her life in Barrie where she lived a full and vibrant life. She and Bob, married for 68 years, built their dreamhouse on the north shore of Kempenfelt Bay. She received great joy from watching the beautiful view of Lake Simcoe from their sunporch or deck. Betty will be remembered for her boundless energy and her love of card games. She was a passionate bridge player, known for her sharp mind and quiet competitive spirit. She loved her pets throughout her life, with one of her favourites keeping her company in her last year, a beautiful fluffy black and white rescue cat named Romeo. During their retirement, Betty and Bob enjoyed many years wintering in Florida, playing tennis and loving the company of their friends and family. She was an avid swimmer, doing laps in the pool every day, even into her 90’s. Betty loved to knit and had great joy knitting afghans for her family and charitable causes.
Betty spent her last years in Collingwood. We would like to extend our deepest thanks and gratitude to all her at home caregivers from St. Elizabeth, as well as her personal care givers Patricia and Charmaine. She received incredible care from Dr. Jennifer Young and staff at CGMH, as well the amazing staff at Campbell House (Hospice Georgian Triangle). There will be a private interment.
