BETTY ROSE BURWELL
1954 – 2025
It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Rose Burwell (Lonsbary), on April 22, 2025, in her 72nd year. Betty passed peacefully in her sleep with family by her side at Tillsonburg Memorial Hospital. Betty leaves behind her best friend and husband of 55 years, Stan Burwell as well as her daughter, Tammy Burwell of London and son Trueman Burwell of Woodstock. Betty was blessed to be a grandmother and is survived by 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren as well as her beloved fur baby, Maggie. Betty will forever be loved and missed by her sisters, Arlene (Tom) Sage, Carolyn (Gerald) Ford, brother-in-law Sherwood (Kathy) Burwell, sister-in-law Darlene Wencel.
Betty is reunited with, her Father Trueman Lonsbary (1999), Mother Audrey (Scott) Lonsbary (2013), Mother-in-law Iva Burwell (2014), her daughter Tara Burwell (2019), granddaughter Angela Moon (2009), brother Gordon Lonsbary (2013), brother Arthur Lonsbary (2025) and his wife Ruthanne Lonsbary (2024), brother George Lonsbary (2004) and his wife Barb Lonsbary (2002), as well as brother Wilfred Lonsbary (2023).
Betty filled her life enjoying her work with waitressing, managing motels, owning her own restaurant, owning a painting business and her work in tobacco in her earlier years. Betty will be fondly remembered for her passion of cooking, spending time at the cottage with family and friends, as well as always brightening a room by participating in the silly and fun aspects of life. Enjoying the time spent playing aggravation, crokinole or watching her favorite show Days of Our Lives. Those who enjoyed the company of Betty know well that if she did not say what she was thinking her face surely would.
The family would like to thank the staff of Tillsonburg Memorial Hospital for their care and kindness over the days Betty was in their care.
The family invites all who knew Betty to a Visitation on Thursday April 24, 2025 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg, ON N4G 3T6 (519) 842-5221. The Funeral Service for Betty will be held on Friday April 25, 2025 at 10:00am in Ostrander’s Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Ben Emery of North Broadway Baptist Church to officiate. Interment to be held following the funeral at Tillsonburg Cemetery. Donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Sick Kids, London and can be done online with the charity or via cheque payable to the Childrens’ Health Fdn.
