Kamp, Betty Mae (nee Hill)
May 18, 1931 – March 15, 2025
Betty lived a good and happy life just shy of 94 years old. She was born in Eramosa, Wellington County, Ontario as Betty Mae Hill. She spent her early years in the Guelph area. It was there she met the love of her life Neil, and they welcomed their son Gerry.
Betty and Neil made the decision to build their dream home in Wasaga Beach, Ontario where they enjoyed their lives since 1983. They were blessed to have spent many of their winters in Florida. They had lots of friends from the Wasaga Beach and Guelph areas. They spent time with them playing cards, dancing and socializing. Neil and Betty were blessed with 64 years together before Neil passed in 2016. Betty’s advice to other young couples was to “Always remember to kiss each other good night and say I love you. Never go to bed mad”!
Sadly, Betty also had to say goodbye to her only son, Gerry. He had a lengthy illness and passed at age 68 in 2021.
The past 14 months Betty has resided full time at the Gardens of Wasaga Retirement Home. She could still be seen, however, up until November 2024 on daily visits to her house. Whether she was picking up sticks or out with her leaf blower she was always tidying her yard that she loved so much. Betty always enjoyed chatting with neighbours and anyone that would say hello as they passed by!
Betty will be missed by her sister-in-law, Eldean Kamp, nephew and nieces, Kenton, Kristin and Karla who reside in British Columbia and the USA. Betty left a lasting impression on many friends and neighbours some of which became her second family.
Thank you to the staff at The Gardens of Wasaga for helping Betty in her final months. Special thanks to PSW Pam who cared for Betty with love and kindness up until her final moment.
Anyone wanting information on a small gathering in honour of Betty to take place in the spring please email Valerie and Phil Callus at callusfamily@yahoo.ca Donations in Betty’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County or The Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation – New Building Fund.
Goodbye our wonderful Betty and cheers to a life well lived!!!!
